My initial reaction is this book could’ve been great with better research, another few rounds of revisions, and a content editor. The pacing is off. There have been times that I had to go back thinking I missed something, but I didn’t. There are parts where descriptions are desperately needed. And to think a child with limited knowledge of prop planes can fly a fighter jet instantly is laughable!

Ffs! The mother was just described as being on drugs, she was loopy and spaced out. The son asked his father if he had been drugging her. He said yes, with Zoloft! Zoloft doesn’t create those reactions. Wtf?!

Ugh, I’m so bored!

Maaaan, am I confused about the era. I know this is fantasy, so it doesn’t have to be historically correct, but there’s a reason why authors typically mirror their fantasy worlds with a time from our real world. So far, this world has no vehicles—just horses and carts—and no electricity/modern technology. It does have a billiards table, an analogue clock, a pianoforte, which are from very different eras.

This book is sooo boring so far! Everyone started traveling in the beginning of the book, and everyone is still traveling at 61%.

This book is extremely boring so far. I’m trying to hang on because of the reviews, but so far I am underwhelmed. I’m not attached to any character, there’s no plot line so far, and the descriptions are repetitive. 🤞

OMG, they are all literally idiots! The fact that not a single person suspected Nova when Sketch had it all laid out for everyone AND all the butterflies landed on Nova. I almost stopped reading right then. I’m still undecided. 🙄

The world-building is cool, but the plot didn’t start until 70% in. There was no real purpose other than battle scenes with no point until 70%.

This book is the most boring in the series so far. It started off promising, but it quickly turned when it started following supporting characters who I don’t care about. This book is far too overpopulated. I hope it gets better.

I will be shocked if Evangeline’s stepsister isn’t evil. The author makes a point to continuously state that they are only stepsisters, that they aren’t close, and that they have nothing in common. It’s like the author is trying to keep them at arms length to make it easier for her stepsister to turn on her.

So many platitudes. It seems less of a telling and more like a thank-you note when authors write to someone rather than about someone. It’s a great tale, but much is lost due to the lengthy platitudes.

I am sooo bored!

It’s a good concept, but it’s so obnoxious how the narrator keeps bragging how he and his friends are the best hackers in the vid, but yet, every time they need to hack something, they can’t do it. Ugh.

Ugh, she had her characters describe themselves in the mirror! That’s a cliche, rookie mistake. I hope the writing gets better.

Ugh, this book is so beautifully tragic and utterly relatable.

I’m so disappointed so far. There’s has been almost no dialogue so far. It’s been entirely summary and nothing like the movie. I hope it gets better and more personable.

So we are really supposed to believe that the colony has superior medical care to cure Day’s incurable brain cancer, but they can’t find a treatment for the virus? Hmm. This was not well thought out.

Literally right after I posted saying it was Mr. Ward, Pip started to suspect him, too. Lol. It must not be him then. If I know one thing about mystery novels, it’s that the killer is someone who is never suspected. Back to the drawing board.

I’m on Chapter 12, but my guess is it’s Mr. Ward. Don’t tell me if I’m wrong!

This beginning is literally the beginning of Romeo and Juliet. Boy is pinning over girl who doesn’t want him and boy falls in love with new girl in the same day at a party. I hope this ending is better.

Alternative titles:
Stockholm Syndrome, Inconsistent Narrators, Emo Teenagers, Fan-Fic Horror. I’m sure I will come up with more. :-/

I absolutely love this book so far, but... in chapter 34, Mary, who is supposed to have all these degrees in animal science, seriously called Canada geese, Canadian geese! Ugh! That’s the worst! They are not Canadian—the species name is CANADA GEESE!

I’m more than half way through this book, and Tally is just now being introduced to the plot! I couldn’t give two shits about Aya and her egotistical rise to fame! If I wanted to read a book about her then I sure as hell wouldn’t have started with book 4. But no, you—the author—took away my choice by introducing a new protagonist to a series in BOOK 4!

This is way better than the first so far! Twist, twist, and another twist! Ok, one of them I saw coming from a mile away, but still great! I hope it finishes strong!

I'm over half way done with the book and I'm still wondering what the point is! There's no clear villain or struggle. There's no clear Protagonist as it follows several people the do pointless things. How very disappointing! At this point I honestly don't know how it has gotten so many 5 stars!

Oh thank God they got a new reader for Sam in this one! I couldn't stand to listen to Sam in Shiver!
