I’ve had ‘Jolene’ stuck in my head all day because of that stupid Tumblr post

I’m getting Michael Criton vibes from this book (Sphere mostly, a little Prey thrown in for good measure) :)

Already learning that our narrator is unreliable (ruh roh)
- “At first, only I saw it as a tower. I don’t know why I the word /tower/ came to me, given that it tunneled into the ground. I could have easily considered it a bunker or a submerged building” (6).
I’m glad she recognized the mis-defining of what it is, but who’s to say she’ll keep doing that later on??

Aaah! It’s quite good so far (though the most recent Angel chapter’s got me REALLY HOPING this isn’t foreshadowing) (p.36)

Of friggin COURSE our protag is a mage. But it makes NO SENSE. According to the laws of the world, she should’ve known that she was a mage before now, cause magic makes itself known more violently for mages. ://

Fine. REALLY was hoping for a change in narrator to allow Jain to ACTUALLY get her memories wiped, but what can you do? ;)
