Met a new female character and I kid you not her chest size was compared to the other female character’s as part of her initial description. I hate it here.

So far I’ve met something like 4 male characters and one female character. Guess which character is the only one I know the hair color, skin tone, and breast size of, and who has been sexualized in every conversation they’ve had so far? Bet you can guess. I know people are thinking I’m too picky at this point but seriously, is this really the bar we’ve set for iconic fantasy writing? I’m tired.

Jesus Christ this hasn’t aged well

I feel like I’m reading a book length pitch for this book instead of a book itself. The story is nice but the writing is killing me.

This writing style is not working for me but I do like the imagery

Breakfast at Tiffany’s always makes me feel some kind of way. It’s extremely dated and some of the language used is jarring at best, but I love Holly. She is maybe one of the most real literary characters I’ve ever read.

At the library and didn’t want to read the book I brought

Maybe I went in with too high expectations but why the hell am I supposed to care about a miserably immature, foolish and unkind man being cared for and doted on in spite of a complete shit personality? It feels so tedious.

This walks a strange line between historical textbook and novel and I’m having difficulty finding a rhythm. I think I would prefer a more straightforward textbook style, but I have seen something like this done very well like in Mythos by Stephen Fry. Maybe this will land somewhere in that realm. I am very interested in Hatshepsut and her rise to power so in some ways it doesn’t matter.

Ended up reading this instead of doing what I was supposed to last night. Fun and silly and easy going. Arabella is maybe too perfect but it’s hard to hold that against her.

Would die for Fanny; the star of the show and the queen of my heart. Still not sold on Leonie and Avon, but more charmed than I thought I’d be.

Really feeling confused and conflicted about the main character Leonie - I just don’t feel like she’s developed enough self awareness to keep herself mentally safe. Rupert is my favorite person so far, with Hugh a near second.

Why does Persephone like Hades?
Why does Hades like Persephone?
When Persephone finds out she’s pregnant like a week after saying she doesn’t want to get pregnant why does she literally not think say or do anything- she just plans a random party???? Whyyyy

This book makes Acotar look like a literary masterpiece which is saying something.
