A wonderful, well-told. Twain/Clemens captures the youth of the characters and the town of a small rural town of that time. His racial language is offensive to many. To get past that fact the reader has to suspend judgement and read the story in the context of the era of the story and time in which it was written. The Tom Sawyer story accurately reflects a time and place in our American history.
