I called my grandpa yesterday and we kept talking about books and he was currently reading this one and recommended it to me so here we go! My expectations aren’t high because I don’t usually read this genre, but I really want to try so we can talk about the book together later!

Please some action, cmon.

Nothing is happening. I still don’t really care about the characters. Sadly, Maven is the most interesting character in this series so this got worse after the first book.

I’m enjoying this a lot so far. Maven and Cal are interesting characters. I really like Mare.

I feel like I’m 5 years late with this but FINALLY starting this series. In my defense, I’ve had the books since 2022 but I’ve been too scared to read them. I’m enjoying this so far. And when Mare met Cal I was like oh I’ve heard about this man! ;)

To be honest I’m not that interested in this but the narrators are both very good (the other one is Freddy Carter <3) and I kinda want to know where this is going!!

- ”Ilya draped an arm over his shoulders. “Not bad. Must be how it feels to be Scott Hunter.” A weird sputter of laughter burst out of Troy. Dammit, now his eyes were damp. “This is for you, too, you know. Even if they don’t know it.” “Yes. And maybe they will know, soon.” “Oh yeah?” “I hope so.” - Stop it or I’ll start crying.

Ilya telling Troy not to listen to Crowell!! I love that everyone is such a big fan of Fabian haha. I love the way Troy and Harris communicate so well. Troy apologizing to Ryan yess!! HE KISSED HARRIS. IN PUBLIC!! DAMN. Okay, that was hot. Troy Barrett I love you.

- ”Ilya’s in a good mood.” ”Oh yeah. He’s always in a good mood when we beat Montreal. I guess being Shane Hollander’s friend doesn’t stop him from loving to destroy him on the ice.” ”Guess not.” - Well, he is getting some good sex tonight because Shane will be so mad about losing.

- Pike gave Hollander a look that Troy would call pleading. “Can I please stab him?” ”No one is stabbing anyone,” the ref barked. ”Not yet,” Ilya said, somewhat silkily and in Hollander’s direction. - They need to be stopped haha.

- Troy was holding Pike’s arm, but Pike wasn’t making any moves toward Ilya. Troy heard him mumble, “I’m so sick of this weird bullshit.” Troy wasn’t sure what that meant. - POOR HAYDEN HAS TO BE A PART OF THEIR ROLEPLAY.

- ”You still play hockey?” Ilya asked. ”Don’t even start, Rozanov.” ”Why are you even here?” Ilya pushed Pike’s chest, forcing the other man away. “I am talking to my friend Hollander.” ”Leave him alone, Rozanov,” Shane growled. “And back the fuck up.” - This is absolutely hilarious.

”I’m gonna fucking kill you, Rozanov.” ”You’ve been saying that for years. But I’m still here.” AND SCOTT SMILING WHEN HE SKATED AWAY!! (They are almost friends)

The fact that Ilya is never with his team on days off!! He has someone special waiting at home. Ilya fighting Dallas after he was being a piece of shit towards Troy and talked some shit about Shane, HELL YEAH!!!

Not Ilya at the children’s hospital staying longer than the others to play Mario Kart with them! Harris interviewing Troy was so cute! I hate Troy’s dad. I love that Ilya is starting to care about Troy! I completely forgot that Wyatt and Troy played on the same team earlier too! Ilya posting random things on instagram… (for Shane to see 100%)

I love it so much how Kip and Scott appear in this book so often. Eric and Kyle you’re basically dating already, JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER. Oh now they are fighting.
“You’re perfect for me.” Eric just believe him please, you’ll both be miserable otherwise. (He didn’t…)

- ”I’m going to head up to my room,” Shane said. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” Goodnight, Shane,” Eric said. “I will probably head up soon too,” Rozanov said. Shane nodded, then turned quickly and left. Rozanov stayed at the table for about another minute, then told Eric he was going to the bathroom. He went, Eric noticed, in the direction of the elevators instead. - Very subtle, good job guys.

- Rozanov’s face lit up. “Bisexual! This is great. Did you fuck that blond teenager yet?” “He’s not a—” Eric bit his tongue. “He’s twenty-five.” “Twenty-five was a long time ago for you. Do you remember twenty-five?” - I LOVE HOW EXCITED HE GOT HAHA.

- Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander were sitting across from each other, and kept catching each other’s eye and smiling. - Oh, I bet they were.
Eric giving advices to Troy was cute. Ilya being the first one to learn about Eric’s retirement is hilarious in a way. Ilya getting shy when Eric told him that many people were impressed with him, my shaylaaa.

Eric coming out to Scott aww I love that!! Scott telling Eric that Ilya asked him to be one of the coaches at the camp and that Shane is gay!! Them thinking about Ilya being the only straight one at the camp… I have a surprise for you. XD Not them having casual sex with no feelings attached. I feel like I’ve seen this film before.

I can actually feel the tension between them and I like that. What I don’t like is the miscommunication but like, I get that. What I hate is Kyle still having a crush on Kip. It’s just weird. Also not a fan of the age gap but it kinda works for them.
“It would be nice if their star hockey player was a better role model.” His “best friend” will take that role in the next book, but on a different team! :)

”It was a shocking amount of Cherry Coke for a pro athlete to consume. It was memorable.” ”You know. You were not the only one to think so that day.” Shane must have been disgusted with him haha. Also Shane come home, I miss you like crazyy.

Ilya knows too much. His gaydar is extremely good.

Of course Ilya is here again making people MAD.
