Read what I suppose is the first part to The White Witch segment. The only real complaint I have is the perspective, lack of true characterization, but I don’t think it would have been as strong otherwise. The detail and description in this was fantastic, and overall, I enjoyed the pacing.

It’s serving, getting lost in trying to say something important than telling a meaningful story and losing the narration in the process

Ok started reading this on Tuesday but I haven’t had service cause I’m camping but anyway. First and foremost I think this story has a lot of potential, though it’s told from the wrong perspective. Camille doesn’t carry it the way it needs to be and there’s so much the reader is missing out on. The prose is fine, keeps you intrigued, but there really isn’t any meat to it. Just scraps hidden between bone.

Although the 'horror' aspects lie within the characters' fears, anxieties, and memories and not really the hotel itself, King utilizes the hotel like a mouth. Focusing on the fear of being eaten, then the actual teeth.

A lot more concentrated and rich than the film character wise, and I find myself enjoying it a lot more when I stop comparing the two. I can see why King really doesn’t like Kubrick’s movie and why they’re so different, even tho I still love the film and the atmosphere of the two are consistent. Anyway, I should have read this a loooooooonnnggggg time ago. Spooky vibes so far? 6/10
