I’m ambivalent. As a love story it was a little much. I mean listen, I get yearning as much as the next person but this was way over the top. I felt like it vacillated from angsty, tragic love story, to madcap rom com, to erotica, to family drama, then to the struggles of a woman in comedy. The tone kept flipping.

About 50% done and feeling sort of personally affronted that bookclub is making me read this, knowing how unsettling it is for me to read a lot of body horror. I’m trying very hard not to let some of the imagery become intrusive.

I have minus zero interest in this, and an hour in to the audiobook (I knew I could never force myself to physically read it),thinking of calling it quits. It’s another of my forced-read bookclub books.

This is another of my forced by book club reads. I imagine it will be frightfully dull. Will report back later.

And now for something completely different…

Reading this as an escapist palate cleanser from my last, foisted upon me, book.

Finished 12/9 but logging after the NY. Poignant story of the price paid by women in unhappy marriages pre divorce law changes in Ireland.

This is so insipid

If this wasn’t a bookclub book it would be a DNF for me.

I do not understand all those giving this 4 and 5 stars.

I don’t know if I can take this for 7 more hours. After awhile the litany of terrible, over the top things gets a bit much. Still about half way through…
