Really important. I can’t emphasize this enough. If you have the capacity to read, if you aren’t putting your mental health at risk (take care of yourself first) read this book. I’m all for reading fiction and things that are a fun easy read but this is so urgently real and critical

I’ve heard about this book all my life, heard it defiled and romanticized and everything in between. I’ve also heard, from a literary standpoint and despite the main characters moral depravity, that it is an exemplary work. Let’s see then

Talk about a book that hurts. I have to take breaks to breathe through it at points bc it’s so poignantly painfully clear how much they love each other. I think it’s well written too. The characters are complex and interesting
