It’s fascinating how despite all this expensive cancer research, what changes people’s minds is not facts, but stories. Whether these political, personal, or scientific stories are true or false remains to be seen.

My thoughts on Russian folklore storytelling so far: less fluff and lots more snow than their western counterparts

I have no clue what’s going on or what timeline we’re in, but I love the mix of Chinese morality/philosophy and video games

Meena: *contributes major improvements to understanding and capturing Dracula*

Men: “thanks for doing that, but now we’re worried about your mental frailty. Stop and go be a housewife.”

Men: “thank goodness she’s safe, we’re so worried she couldn’t handle all the stress. We’re so gentlemanly by excluding her from our work”

Meena: *gets preyed upon by the enemy because she’s left alone*

“Doctor, you don't know what it is to doubt everything, even yourself. No, you don't; you couldn't with eyebrows like yours.”

Reading this book is like training for a half marathon. I have to readjust myself to the language, the pace, and most importantly, the frailty of 19th century women. But it is a delightful mystery that goes far beyond what I imagined!

I’ve been reading this book for weeks now & I’m having major trouble connecting with the characters, the story, and the pacing… I know it’s good quality writing but Isabelle is an impulsive fool and Vianne is a weak fool. They make me so frustrated I literally can’t read more than 30 mins at a time

(Please don’t hate me, I believe Kristin Hannah is brilliant)
