Holy cow is this dark

So I’m still not understanding why she has to hide that she can craft higher? Also her parents are perfectly okay with her letting her dreams go because of their secret? Like no.

He’s still down bad. She’s actually looking at him like he’s not scum. The torture is still a prominent thing. Pretty dark book.

The author states this book could be a bridge from middle school to high school but I don’t know how I feel about that. There is animal torture/abuse, & human abuse. Emotionally the dragon torture was hard on me and I’m an adult. Not sure how I’d feel about a tween reading it.
I really wish we had some more female rep. FMC has no female friends or outside family relationships. This may fail the Bechdel test.

She has so much hate and anger. She really needs a therapist.
