thank you Brene for bridging research and implementation in a practical and life altering way. in the day and age of wellness as a commodity, i find practitioners/influencers run rampant, without accountability, giving unfounded advice which is dangerous. brene writes from a scientific perspective, teaches us about how our brains n emotions react to shame, vulnerability, and trauma. this book should be given at birth

i have highlighted this book tie dyed. the way Brown defines our emotions gives understanding to the complexities of our lived experiences. i feel more equipped to accurately depict what i am feeling in the moment. this book and the research within have helped me demystify the mysteries that are feelings and their roots to my students.

so far this emotional mapping has served me really well especially in reminding myself the definitions of emotions and how they manifest internally and externally with others.

so far the book is reinforcing concepts i have read elsewhere, especially from Hooks’ All About Love: tending to your own and other’s inner child, defining love as accepting lessons as well as teaching, and overall dispelling Romanticism; how that era in our society still plagues how humans perceive expectations of intimate love.
