Not saying she’s a good author. Everything is still full and lifeless and unsympathetic about it, but I enjoyed it more this time.

Oh, I didn’t expect that. I also didn’t expect to like this more than I liked the entire book. I think I read this portion at the right time.

Don’t know if I liked ch 29 (?) but I’ve just been reading romance today. No enemies, just lovers. Doesn’t feel like the smoothest transition?-Or is it because I stopped at a place where the transition started?

I think I like the story so far. It’s basic, simple, and easy to follow. Perfect.

Jesus, I’m falling asleep again. But statutory rape and pointing two fingers? More action in this 76% than the entire book.

Feels a LOT better now that I’m just skimming.

It’s been feeling like a chore to even think about picking this book up.

Fell asleep while reading. Getting a bit more interesting?? But I stopped at Judyta, and I heard it picks up after meeting her. So I’m saving her for the next time I pick up the book.

Either I’m tired, this book is slow and it’s putting me to sleep, or it’s both 🫠

Just got to part 2. It’s been alright so far. Still kind of slow. Still wondering how it won book of the year- waiting for the pick-up.

I like Kajii. I feel like she’s supposed to be likable though. I feel like through the book, Rika will learn to love and savour food because of Kajii.

Food, misogyny, attachment/abandonment issues, neglect, jealousy, loneliness, murder, AND fat phobia? I’m interested.
