Repetitive discussion that keeps her angry and confused: he plans to marry her but doesn't disabuse her that he's not going to trade her. Why not tell her?

I know why her cousin wants to marry her and why he wants to snatch the girls

It's OK, but I have to admit I'm sick of hearing him say her name over and over again. So unnecessarily too. And then additionally once he realizes he doesn't want to just like his typical mistresses why he wouldn't just tell her that he wants to court her like a lady.

Great writing and she's developing Joes character really well. Our MC However, is a bit of a martyr, doesn't communicate and is repressing her feelings and her resentment is building up and it's getting kind of annoying.

Not enough relationship development. Personally, I think a guy wrote the girl character and a girl wrote the guy character, I like the priest, but they're both fantasies. The heroine is especially.

Had to stop reading at 91% because the steps to move the plot forward got so stupid. Until then, I was mostly enjoying it other than The dialogue was repetitious.

It's actually well written, and the characters for quite good, but for some reason, I didn't find it interesting enough to keep reading.

It had potential but I couldn't finish. The plot was pretty far fetched and Characters interactions were often very odd. DNF

Whoa. Melodramatic much? Good grief. Our poor heroine doesn’t seem to know she’s a mafia princess who’s only job is to make a good marriage. Not sure if I’ll keep listening

it quickly deteriorated. were supposed to be so impressed with India but she says and does stupid things. the dialogue is pretty inane--only 1-2 lines a page are worth the trouble. the most interesting part of the book is the history between deVere and Forge.

I couldn’t get past the first few pages. Totally ridiculous. Anyone with such animosity towards this guy would at least ask “why?“ as in “why would you help me?” Instead she spends pages in the stupid and pointless conversation

So far it’s really great although occasionally repetitive but at ch 19 she uses a really stupid plot device to add drama, which pissed me off. But I will let it slide and pray AJ doesn’t let me down.

So far it’s quite fun but the plot took a turn when the author decided to move it forward by making the heroine do something really stupid and unnecessary. Disappointing.

DNF Too respective for my taste and I prefer to see than be told.

There was a lot to like in the beginning even though it moved too fast but fake countries and rebellions seem so amateurish. I’m skimming now but probably will have to abort.

Omg it awful.

Victoria holts characters are always interesting, self reflective analysis, amusing and sardonic, they often considering themselves “realists”. There was a bit too much repetition and too much obliviousness from the heroine. I would have liked to see minella considering the facts and applying it to potential villains.

Enjoyable but the plot is based on a rake undergoing a great transformation ie, finding a heart and being unusually sensitive to others and introspective while at the same time completely ignoring that the object of his affection (who’s admitted she’s been hurt by men before) could be his if he only explained that his feelings were not just lust.
