dont judge i needed to get out of my reading slump

took me so long to get out of the slump this put me through. i really wanted to enjoy it and at times i really did. it was so nostalgic to see the old gang - garrett etc - but idk the mcs here just fell short ? and i can’t pinpoint why. enjoyed the dixon rule more.

mc was sweet but it was so corny

very repetitive

i wished i loved it more than i actually did cos xavier is very lovable and unproblematic compared to other mcs ana has written but idk the book kinda felt flat to me? it did have its moments tho

this work is derivative at best — a whole copy of the wrong husband — just worst. was this not proof read because the amount of unironic grammatical errors and typos was borderline disgusting. see, i love to consume garbage media from time to time to get out of a slump, but this book just made the slump worst.

the only saving grace was the advocacy for victims of abuse.

people who disliked GOP are just wrong cos surprisingly, out of rina kent’s couple’s this one had the least power imbalance and toxicity. creighton and annika communicated well, and no actions were forced. it was just their circumstances that made it difficult for them to be in a healthy relationship. only gripe is i hated the parents’ pov. lia and elsa are pathetic & ava’s a bitch for slapping annika.

already almost halfway through this book and the author still keeps referring to dominic as daniel. i wonder if this is the publisher’s fault, but it’s annoying how they didn’t even double check for rookie errors.

love how the author uses “greyson” and “grey” to indicate violet’s current perception of the mmc

i’m not even gonna lie.. i am thoroughly enjoying this.. mostly because i appreciate how accurate the author wrote the hockey scenes and training scenes. YEP! mentioning powerplays, cross checks, narrating hockey fights accurately??? YEP YEP IM IN!!!!

their dynamic was so one dimensional and the tropes were too similar with the right move BUT! i will say that the hockey scenes and parts were well-researched and written LIKEEE author mentioning the vezina trophy?? and cross checking?? SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT!!!

now why did the author immediately reveal that jamie liked pippa..

some scenes felt to repetitive like this shit was already portrayed in magnolia parks 2 .. why is it shown again and the other perspectives just didn’t give more depth :/ man i hate magnolia too .. i hate how christian and daisy were treated as side characters

i find myself enjoying this book the more i DON’T read about magnolia. don’t get me wrong, i love julian. but magnolia is an unbearable people pleaser character. fuck tiller. the daisy and christian scenes are so cute.
