Was flipping between starting this (bought it today) and starting a kdrama. Read one page in the hope I would choose reading for once and actually read for four hours straight. So gripping. So funny. The writing is tight and it feels like getting to the good stuff except all the time.

This is a dream for me because I’ve been psychologically obsessed with Meg Cabot’s Mediator series since I was a young teenager. I look for it everywhere because I was instantly unwell about and have never stopped since.

This is incredibly powerful stuff - invokes very strong feelings.

I honestly don’t know what I’m going to rate this. I always like Dunmore’s meta but so much of this feels like Outlander or Poldark. But then that feels intentional, especially when they talked about heroes in Austen and The Brontës.

Most of his points are so obvious but it’s great to see them pointed out and explained.

My problem with most p&p adaptions is that they make Lizzie openly hostile towards Darcy. She was internally hostile but would never show it too much, which is the only reason why he thinks he has a chance in the first place, and that is SUPER important to the plot. This common change makes Darcy look stupid, but he’s not. He’s prideful. There is a difference.
