How many times does the author use the phrase, “Duvall said”?

"'If love is our reason, we may veer off course sometimes, but we will never be lost.'" I'm really enjoying this book. It has a really cool Mom. I like books with cool parents. Go figure.

So far our hero has discovered dragons in the sleepy little town where his grandfather lives but not Sasquatch.

"If Jesus ever comes back to earth again, I'm thinking, he'll come as a dog, because there isn't anything as humble or patient or loving or loyal as the dog I have in my arms right now." (Page 48)

I really like the language used to tell this story.

I love this book. I would have loved to have pulled a prank like this when I was in fifth grade.

I really like the way that the reader knows what Carley was thinking and can contrast that with what she is saying and doing. Until Carley's thought become so complicated that she doesn't understand them. The adults do an ok job of guessing what's going on, except when they don't.

This is the story of a girl in foster care after her step-father beat her unconscience and put her mother into a vegetative state. I'm not sure how old she is, and I can't guess why they moved her from Nevada to Connecticut, but I love reading about how confusing she finds her foster family. It's a look inside a world I have no experience with.

I hate basketball. I'm only reading this because it's in the list. So far the hero is one of those annoying teenagers who is totally full of himself.

In Chapter 1 a six-year-old boy leaves home to go to boarding school to learn English.
