After almost 2 years I’ve decided to return to this series, and I couldn’t be happier. Don’t know if it’s due to the break I took from it but this is easily one of my favorites. I know people love God Emperor, and as I get further from it the more I appreciate it, but so far, I like this a whole lot more. Very engaging and exciting, and of course you’ve got the one and only Miles Teg.

This book has already broken my heart. Tom’s death has hit me harder than maybe any other fictional character. One of the realest things I’ve ever read.

Im only 100 pages in and what im about to say is probably not the most original thought, but I think this is maybe the greatest book of all time.

So far not as enthralled as I was in the last few works I’ve read from Ellis but I still really like this. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!

I guess I’m gonna just read all these damn Ellis books now.

This dude is so mentally ill, I’ll take 500 more pages please.

So far there has been not a single shart in the whole book. What the hell.

Shit man. Maybe the most depressing thing I’ve ever read. I’m also on vacation. Not a vibe!

Don’t have a book mark so I’m using this as a virtual one. Here’s a quote I loved from Chapter 2:

“America, land of supermarkets and superhighways, of supersonic jets and Superman, of supercarriers and the Super Bowl! Although every country thought itself superior in its own way, was there ever a country that coined so many “super” terms from the federal bank of it’s narcissism.”

A dense undertaking compared to my previous read. Like damn.

Reid has the mind of a tortured 85 year old man. What the actual fuck.

Yeesh. Don’t know what I expected going into this but I can tell the story will break me down in a similar way that Reid’s previous novel did. Excited for this!
