Love, loved, love it!
I occasionally keep a book and find it hard to pick back up, even while recalling how good it actually is.

I have a feeling if the author doesn't go off the rails, that I'll have a blast with the world of Elan.

Starting a series of this length is a big deal, and now I'm unsure if I'm just in one of my moody intervals or if I'm simply just not enjoying this novel, I haven't gotten the moment like with the Riftwar Cycle where I just knew I'd push through till something truly trash level occurs and perhaps even through that.

I fear I may never read another fantasy book with dragon riders at the heart of it.

With this and the Bound and the Broken I've simply come to the realisation that dragons as mythical beast are becoming tasteless, like a dish without salt, it needs multiple other things going for it, and this novel doesn't.

You know, I'm not giving any book more chances than it deserves on my count.

This book should be called Priest of War and the Sexually Traumatised.

No thank you.

I am seriously unsure about this book, indeed when the use of Christianity ideas, was to create a government look alike I didn't mind much, but now with things like angels and a war resembling satans betray being spoken about in their history, I'm really not impressed.

I also don't really like the sequence of events going on, ugh! I'm just not feeling it.

I could have loved this book so damned much, and I'm not even going to sugarcoat it, but I just can't stand Bloody Anne.

She was the reason I had to close this book, and cool off. Her attitude is shity, her backstory didn't really move me since I couldn't really see how it explains most of her behaviours.

Her badass nature is just plain asshole behaviour. I might drop this, I don't want another faithful and fallen.

I admit that I didn't expect to love this book so much. Yes, I enjoyed the BBC series, it remains one of the best things I've watched, but I can't remember much of it.

So picking up this trilogy was on a whim, but good lord in heaven! Have I fallen in love.

It seems there's something about this story that just gets me. I believe this is a new entry to my top 10.

The published version of this series is not catalogue on Goodreads, so I'll be using this to record my review of all the volumes I've read

I'm currently at Volume Six: Where The True is Sought, The Immortal is Made

I have to say this is the best Xianxia I've ever read and I believe if by any chance it gain popularity outside of China it'll be big.

There's something awe inspiring about reading a book almost a century old.

I also believe Tolkien had a mastery for beautiful poems and quotes not nearly spoken about near enough.

Just another game he played in a world where heroes were legends and honor was a myth.

Honour amongst thieves and all of that, I'm a very morally upright man for sure, but... Boy do I love rouges! I've also been looking forward to digging into Sullivan's world of Elan.

Two bird with one stone.

Boy oh, boy, can this man write, I consider Christopher Ruocchio to have the best prose out of all the authors I've read but now I'm forced to see the light, Tad Williams it's turns out it built different, this man's every sentence is a poem. Lord save my soul.

The Devil is here! Sorrow, his name is sorrow...! The king has brought the Devil! Morgenes, Holy Usires, save me save me save me!

I have a personal rule which I break almost all the time. Read through the synopsis of all the books in a series before starting, to get a feeling for how it develops, I should have done that here. I think I'm done with this series.

It doesn't develop into what I enjoy in a zombie apocalypse story? Damn do I hate this kinda thing.

Damn, a one man tale indeed, I'm enjoying this but I do love my character interactions and there almost non here, at least so far.

I hope the solo character or duo character story ends with this book though.

This hair stuff was kinda ass.

Harry falls, lies there, his hair gets cut off, lies some more, finally goes: "...my hair."

You see that event progression? It stank. Apart from this, I've had few issues with the novel so far. But seeing as this is going to create major motion, it'll definitely affect my experience going forward.
