Titus is a pretty good depiction of a Tyrant that isn’t stupid? He has power and strength and while making clearly stupid and idiotic decisions still is smart enough to remain a persistent threat

The simulation of tribal warfare really works well and despite the society’s culling and cruelty the Institute does seem to teach valid lessons that explain how members of the Society buy into the ideology.

The Institute is such a cleverly structured institution, there’s comparisons to the Hunger Games but aside from the general ffa feel it’s way different, in meaning, symbolism and goal.

The critique of Empire and how many ruling classes believe themselves to be the final, inevitable end of history while forgetting how those before them fell.

Nero’s ideology is a delight and isn’t fantastical or unbelievably evil, it’s rooted in the elitism that we see in our modern day. I do think it’s interesting how nationalism for any planet is essentially gone.
