Somewhere around the halfway mark but this is slow going. It reminds me of the first few King books I read where I thought they just dragged on too much. I like his writing, his characters, his worldbuilding, but hardly anything has happened so far. It's just too drawn out. The editor should've stood up to him and been a bit stricter

I put this down for a few we is because I got back into a Sims phase but I didn't deserve it, it's so good

Had this sat by my bed for weeks before picking it up last night, and I'm now on page 77. It looked so dry and intimidating but it's gripped me already. If it doesn't fumble the mystery or slow the pace too much this could be a great read

I knew I wasn't really going to like this from the first few pages. I should've stopped then!

Really enjoying this so far- the characterisation of lots of different characters is being handled well and it's a cool premise to read about. There's clearly a lot of mystery to be unraveled, so the real test will be whether this book fumbles it or not

Pretty good but written in quite an impersonal way, like it's a scientific paper and the kids are just test subject, which makes it hard to connect to or feel any tension

Finally, a book with an actual plot! Sorry Terry, but Discworld killed my reading mojo for a good few weeks. I'm at 70% on that so I might try and limp to the end, but for now, this! Off to a great start

His writing style is nice but why are there no chapters or breaks in the story and why is there only a vague sense of a plot. These are the exact issues I've had with the Discworld novels before, I just feel like I'm meandering from pillar to post with no real aim

This is the most extreme ACOTAR pallette cleanser that you've ever seen. Bit of a slow start but it's hotting up now the rats have arrived

I started this straight after I finished the last one but Christmas upset my routine and I perhaps needed a bit of a break from Prythian. I'm getting drawn back in again now though- enjoying the new characters brought into focus.

Awful start- so many names of random military characters thrown around with no other information to distinguish them, but it's settled into the story a bit now and certainly got me intrigued

Some classic ghost story tropes in here but well executed so far, it's the first book to genuinely spook me in ages. I keep jumping at loud noises in broad daylight...

For a Stephen King B-side, I'm still enjoying this, even if so far other than the cell phone twist, it's a bit of a generic rag-tag-survivors-travel-across-wasteland-America kinda story

Enjoying this so much I've just bulk ordered five more Stephen King books so make of that what you will. I've been reading under the covers trying not to wake up my partner, it's like being a kid staying up past your bed time all over again

I can't believe I never read these when I was a teenager. I was obsessed with contemporary YA romance. Maybe I was too deep into my not-like-other-girls phase. Anyway, the trailer for season 3 of the TV show dropped today and it has me in a chokehold. I need something to do while I wait, hence, finally reading the books.

That's right, I'm spontaneously re-reading this again because it still lives rent-free in my head. Still devastated that the slated TV adaptation never came to anything. Kinda terrified I won't like it this time, but it's going strong so far.

Horrendous prologue which made me question my life choices (or at least my choice to pick up this book), but now it's got going I'm really enjoying it (and the language has thankfully gotten slightly less verbose). Is this going to be a third slam dunk?

Picked this up on a whim and it's far more charming than I thought it was going to be. I thought it might be long and dull but it's not at all so far. Whether or not I'll enjoy the Candleford sections as much remains to be seen. I didn't know, but the setting is actually pretty close to where I grew up so it's very close to my heart.
