Normally I don’t do mid-book reviews anymore, but I’m less than 80 pages in and this book has managed to feature our heroes crossing other people’s boundaries in uncomfortable ways multiple times AND (unrelatedly) already deflate the romantic tension between the two MCs. I love Olivia Dade, but…something’s way off here.

This one’s shaping up to be a five-star read right out of the gate 😂

Right out of the gate, this book has the type of mysterious, magical, *slightly* sinister opening that is guaranteed to hook me immediately. Daughter of Smoke and Bone meets The Dark is Rising vibes. Can’t wait to see where this one goes.

This is the most pleasant reading experience I’ve had in a long, long time! Such an enjoyable, fun book. And I wish I had better superlatives because that’s such an undersell. I hope this lovely novel catches on with Booktube and/or Tik Tok, and people buy the hell out of it, because it really deserves to be known. <3

God. I really, really hate James Holden.

The fact that this series isn’t a bestseller (at least, it isn’t Stateside, as far as I know) baffles me. The world-building, the complexity of the characters, the compelling plot—it’s so fantastic. I love this series so much.

Oof, this one is intense.
