Very tasteful discussion of otherwise uncomfortable themes. Some characters do feel a tad two-dimensional atm though which is disappointing…

I am nothing if not a lonely fisherman when it comes to the siren call of Jennifer Saint’s writing.

Feeling like Macbeth rn, “Stepp’d in so far that should I wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er”.

Didn’t expect a book about post-war Vietnam and America to have discussion on mixed-race identity that I’d actually relate to??

A moving story so far, however the wording feels quite contrived. Perhaps I would prefer it as a collection of poems rather than a novel?

Strange, absurd, accurate to life today in many respects. Truly shocking piece of work.

Praying that the structure/narrative voice changes, it’s an interesting plot but the way of writing it isn’t doing it justice

Finished Part 1! I was worried it would be slow going after the first few chapters, but it’s picking up the pace now. I feel like there’s so much symbolism with the deer and the way the men handle them… I just hope this doesn’t end up as an ‘all men bad’ type retelling. So far, so good :)

I brought this book today and I fear I’ll finish it by tomorrow, it’s just too charming! A unique perspective, I really feel like I’m seeing the world through Keiko’s eyes
