Reading about how common and normalised loss once was is heartfenching and terrifying. Makes me grateful for how we've progressed.

One thing I love about Halls' writing is the way she portrays relationships. The bonds between characters, even those who aren't close, often feel so supportive and it's warming.

My biggest reflection from this book:

Life is not long enough to isolate yourself as punishment or as coping. Be around those you love, accept their support, laugh with them and grieve with them. Experience life with those you want to and don't waste a second being silly about it.

I love the representation of safe, unassuming love. I feel when there's a character who starts off with a different partner to the one planned for them if any at all are, the writer always makes it seem as though the Original partner is nothing to them. It feels harsh and pointless. Not Griffin thought she's represented love as love even if it's not the main love throughout the book!!

Oh my god that's the most powerful prologue I've ever read

Okay I'm loving the sass

I'm struggling to make sense of a few things - details are explained in an odd order that makes it difficult to remember.

A doctor is an academic but she's not really written as such. It's not believable.

There's also a lot happening "off-screen" which are simply narrates by the protag's pov. But they feel important to have been actively written about.

I'm not feeling very connected to the establishment of these crushes. It feels very written for the sake of it - hopefully it becomes more meaningful later on. Even when romance is central to the book, I still feel like it needs to be well established in the stour instead of just placed in there because that's what the author wanted.

Odd subjects being explored but I've enjoyed the dialogue.

Enjoyed the community vibes of this part of the book! Very nice to see L, A, E and T all getting along.

Criticised too soon!! Absolutely lovely chapter showing a strengthening bond between A & L. Love the descriptives in this part and plot progressed well.
