Honestly, the fact that this book takes place in the US and has US born characters but uses words and phrases not common in the region this book is set in, is super annoying.

Slow going. Also this paragraph alone almost made me dnf: “I understood why. Behind the green glasses and shy expressions lay one of the most striking creatures I’d ever beheld. Chestnut hair and hazel eyes that called to my earthy roots. Ruddy cheeks from rosacea or stress that warmed the red fire within me. Dark blue jeans that kindled the spark of water power within me.”

Really struggling to keep reading this one. I loathe our fmc so much.

“On an impulse, my hand flies to the heart tattoo I have under my left eye.”
All I picture is Amanda Bynes.

This is a sequel apparently to another book that I don’t want to read because it’s not my thing. The author doesn’t do a good job of world building in this one. I hate not know the back story on characters. Struggling to continue to read.

Why is this such a chore to read?? Also, she is so annoying.

So boring. Hoping something happens beyond talks of fishing and oil production.
