God and this is where she loses me. Living a life of lust for men is very much a lifestyle but Anais blurs the line SO MUCHHH here. You gotta be careful with that shit you dibble and dabble but acknowledge when to put that shit to bed. “She could have lived for nothing else. In fact, she lived for nothing else. The rest of the time -when she was not with him- she felt and heard nothing clearly” ABSOLUTELY NOT

Absolutely loving this. How unapologetically loud her portrayal of sex, attraction, and power is. Reading this after reading her quotes/diary truly helped illustrate her mind and own relationship with sex. You feel her need, her nature with her explicit expression of what it means to want and need a man and/or release,,,

Started in preparation for the movie.
Got like three chapters in before realizing the narrator was a man and the bubbling infatuating wlw dynamic between her and her sister was really one of a perverted man.. so disappointed. while that is what first immersed me in the book the mc’s dilemma on modern philosophy and a want for knowledge is what keeps me, super interesting! don’t expect less from a gothic pioneer

im still trying to create a mental distinction between rice’s Louis and the shows because obv Louis wouldn’t b a favorite of mine if he wasn’t black so hearing how racist he once was in this universe is upsetting I mean js slaves being abt of the storyline at all is annoying because yall got vampires and fantasy magic but we still gotta be an enslaved ppl like ok
