Much better than Book 2. Maybe better than Book 1?

Shh... don't think too hard. Just enjoy the modge podge of technology and the fact the male leads are clearly being held hostage by the author.

Why?!

Ugh. Children. So many options before you, so little forethought.

I'm hitting that wall I sometimes hit with teen fiction when the story progresses this long, especially now that I'm a 40 year old executive. Girl, you have the chance to control both ends of power and you are actively making the choice to pick the background character route. Petyr Baelish would never. How are you going to earn the "Legendary" part of the book cover without an unrealistic plot twist??

Any relationship built from the foundation of diarrhea will stand the test of time.

Hmm. I'm going to pause this series. Sable is driving me crazy in this book. Girl doesn't have a strategic bone in her body. The most clever thing she's done was at the start of book 1 with the ledger and the necklace. I've been holding out hope for too long. Maybe I'll try to finish in a month or so, but for now I gotta pause.

Hard as a reader to have Sable still be so far behind the curve at this point in Book 2.

She was always walking curve with the reader until the end of the first book, now she's so far behind she's difficult to enjoy as the narrator/POV. Hoping she catches up with the rest of us before the end of Part II or I gotta bounce.

Kinda reminds me of reading a D&D campaign

Finally to the title of the book. Still in heavily in adlerian psychology, which I can only assume is a big deal in Japan and is why "the Japanese phenomenon..." is included in the sub-title.

I'm struggling to enjoy the "ah...but young Padawan that's where you're wrong..." narrative style of scholar vs student debate.

I'm also waiting, almost impatiently for the "japanese phenomenon" to appear, the entire first 30% of this book references the American philosopher Adler.

This is everything I loved about The Martian and what I felt was lacking in Artemis. Very excited to continue reading, went to Chapter 6 without blinking once.
