Nicole is finished with Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong
As I am listening and reading along with the audio, I am also grabbing my daughter's AP history book, The American Pageant, to check out the sections that are specifically mentioned since this is a newer textbook for their district.

Much of the information regarding the Targaryens was also included in The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones. However, the illustrations are fabulous.

Nicole is on page 37 of 304 of Sex And Race Vol. 1 Negro-Caucasian Race Mixing in All Ages And All Lands: The Old World
Taking my time to reread this one thanks to the internet. I can now look up additional information regarding events or people mentioned in the book to see if updated information is available since this was first published in 1940. To my surprise, a great deal of the "whitewashing" mentioned in the book has now been corrected (reversed) and accepted by most academia.

"Scholars estimate that as many as 156,000 slaves were exported from 1441 to 1521 to Iberia and the Atlantic islands from the African coast. The trade made the shift from Europe to the Americas (Brazil) as a primary destination for slaves around 1518."

For many in the US, we forget the struggles of slavery already present in the New World, particularly Brazil in the early 16th century.

I hope the TV show really does well and that there should at least be 3 seasons to do the book justice.

Annoyed that some recent textbooks tend to dedicate only one chapter to 25 decades of oppression and downplay the contributions (labor) that physically built this country.

I now have a much deeper hatred for Andrew Jackson than ever before. He was a son of a bitch and thought he didn't have to play by the rules...like Donald Trump. For all those kidnapped, broken, killed, raped and destroyed constantly in the most inhumane manners, the legacy of all those slaves need to be fully understood by the masses and & not just "skimmed" over in textbooks. Slavery is NOT just Black history.

This is one of those "Hoe could they?" type books. Giving the true dealings of America's "heroes" on their involvement with the slave trade and trying to preserve its status was also a big part of the Revolutionary War as well. Most of America is never educated about the intricacies that developed that lead the leaders to fight for "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" but not for A, AA and NA slaves,
