Alex Nelson is on page 145 of 497 of The Red and the Blue: The 1990s and the Birth of Political Tribalism
This is a well-written book. I'm actually amazed, since the sources appear to be overwhelmingly (more than 90%) from contemporaneous news articles.

Part of me wonders what details are yet to be unveiled by investigators. For example, the intrapolitical machinations of the DLC. Or the secrets buried in the personal diaries of the various political actors. Or...

The major complaint I have is the end-notes are all online.

But the parallels between the 1970s and now is...quite eery.

After writing a dictionary, Johnson has done...well, he...uh, hmm...bantered for years...

Alex Nelson is on page 85 of 752 of Richard Nixon: The Life
Nixon's paranoia seems to be manifest in his first congressional election, apparently stemming from (I infer) unresolved issues with abusive parents and the deaths of his brothers.

Nixon's already quite unpleasant (as a human being) in his first Congressional race.

Alex Nelson is on page 136 of 272 of Devil's Bargain: Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, and the Storming of the Presidency
Green reviews the relationship between Mercer family and Bannon, but I think greater detail could be given. It's still quite good, but I expected more from a book.

Shocking how poorly Green investigates Bannon's university years at Virginia tech. Really, words fail me.

The writing style is a little choppier than I expected, but the material is quite rich in content.

Alex Nelson is on page 211 of 960 of Abraham Lincoln: A Life, Volume One
So far, he's not president yet. But it's amazing how much mythology there is around Lincoln. Contrary to popular belief, Lincoln did not believe in God at this point (in his 30s), nor did he believe in the divine authorship of the Bible. Lincoln was...just a humanist.

In Hollywood, he's vain, vapid, and Pharisaical to boot. "He loves to talk and hates to listen".

A rather confused discussion of the three Truths doctrine. The author doesn't cite Hurvitz or Swanson for T'ien-T'ai material. It's hard to take this seriously.
