Alright, you got me. Finally diving into this blind with only the book description and the recommendation of multiple people who say I will simply devour this. There is an asshole fluffy cat in the first few pages, so I am therefore already hooked.

I was really hoping this would flesh out the world little deeper. Maybe this is just setting the stage?

All the characters are so dramatic and 300 pages in, I still don't really understand their backstories.

When the book was talking about houses and house colors and the enchanted room, I am sorry I just couldn't stop thinking of Harry Potter 😭

Okay - definitely a vibe shift because I didn't know this was heavy YA - but you know what it's a good pallet cleanser so far.

Why does Olivier and Emilio have more chemistry than Wren and August (who I think I am supposed to care about but so far they are getting on my nerves)

The pacing has been SO slow, but now things are finally starting to happen. This is a very "set the stage" entry in the series, isn't it

I am still struggling to finish this.. but I got this far, so i will keep going.
