The third story is "My Brother Leopold" set more than 450 years after the end of the Old Times, ie modern civilization. I enjoyed the style, which had a lot in common with fantasy, and a lot to imply about religion and politics. Very interesting.

A five-star story. A mystery, a whodunnit, and finally, at the end, it all makes sense. Utterly compelling story, and I feel like I actually learned something. Very enjoyable.

The Feast of Dionysus is well written and compelling, more for John's sake than for any of the religious aspect to the story. I had a particular hope for John's visions, which were not realized. So the end of the story left me flat. But the writing style is otherwise exemplary. I loved the shift from one setting to the other. I felt connected to John almost the entire way.
