My goodness. Here we see both the ends of obstinate, self-damnation and of nihilistic materialism. And neither seem suitable for any man of intelligence. No, as I sit beside the fire and think, would I be able to lift my finger to save my souls from falling into that hellfire? 'Of course I would!' I think. But then again, so do all who perish the infinite death

15 - Descent of the gods (and some others)

"They Have Pulled Down Deep Heaven on Their Heads" man that is such a cool name for a chapter.

"Camilla, who had been in the rocking chair, was curled up in an attitude which was full of grace, like that of an animal accustomed to sleep anywhere." Ah, I knew she reminded me of Kimberly.

"They have gone to gods who would not have come to them..."

I'm sorry. Is this a Lord of the Rings reference? In my C.S. Lewis work?! What kind of topsy turvy world have I wondered into?!

(Due to a discrepancy in Goodread's idea of how long the book is vs. How long my copy is, I'll be putting the chapter title at the top. Also vague spoilers, I recommend going in as I have, that being completely blind)

You know, I snagged Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World' at the same time as this one, but I think I'll need a book as an inbetwix though. My goodness!

So far, a very good read, good page turner. Did not expect to like it as much as I do. Well written, descriptive, and always revealing those little nuggets that you need for a good mystery.

Ooooohhh! So good, yet so haunting. I am left with such a feeling of dread and disquiet after this last chapter.
