out of everything i’ve read, Hetan’s hobbling will forever be in the top of the most difficult and horrendous things i’ve read.
i’m glad Toc and Tool made an appearance again tho

almost 400 pages and the most interesting thing that’s happened so far is someone posing as a commander and telling people to cut their hair but they take hair from a horse and say that their hair grows back fast cause of their race. oh and Otataral dragon mention again 😛

oh come on mannnnnn, thought it was gonna be a nice chapter……

finished through chapter 5. it’s so refreshing getting to see Blend, Mallet and Picker beefing and working at K’rul’s bar, and eventually interacting with Barathol Mekhar talking about Kalam. It’s also fun seeing Crone and Chillbais calling her a big hen 😭. and also seeing Cutter/Crokus struggling with his identity when reuniting with Rallick Nom.

only 100 pages in and i’m already a bit lost. lots of new pov characters and it feels almost faster paced now cause he switches through them very fast. in the first 6 books, ive been used to sections anywhere from 1k-5k words, but now in TTH these sections are hardly scratching 1,000 words, some as low as 200.

however, his prose here is very elegant, more so than usual.

okay i’ll be honest, I HATE the Letherii plotline like i do not give a shit. HOWEVER i am going to make myself like it and enjoy it and i know we go back to Darujhistan in Toll the Hounds. On the bright side, the stuff with Rhulad and the stuff with Udinaas and Seren and Kettle and such is actually pretty interesting, and I love how Silchas Ruin is just like there with them 😭😭

okay WOW we are SO back! i was getting nervous i wouldn’t like this book but now it’s getting so good and im so sat cause interesting things are happening. and i actually was saying “holy shittttt” in these two chapters i just read

finished the first sub-book… things are finally starting to pick up!!

still kinda lost but i’m not gonna give up hope. trull and his brothers are stilll kinda eh for me, but the Beddicts are somewhat interesting, wish we got more of the Eleint Soletaken Bloodeye or whatever cause malazan dragons are so good

anyways yeah i still have hope

lowkey confused as fuck. tehol and bugg are gonna be cool tho i can feel it. (i already got spoiled on some info on Bugg but oh well)

honestly not entirely sure what’s going on in this at the moment, but i’m enjoying it nonetheless.

very good so far, the Karsa parts are still a bit tedious tho. Absolutely love seeing Lostara and Pearl’s friendship and beef, and the sequence of them coming upon the Otataral Dragon was amazing. very excited to keep reading. great way to start off the year of malazan (trying to read all Malazan-universe books this year!)

very good so far!! not a fan of Karsa’s story so the first part was a bit of a slog, but seeing the few connections/references to the main story was cool. the parts with Sha’ik and Felisin Younger are cool. and i’m especially enjoying everything with Lostara Yil and her conversations with Cotillion/the Rope!!

chapter 16… i am sick. just the imagery of the Siege of Capustan is both brilliant and truly horrifying, from the Women of the Dead Seed (you don’t even want to know what they get up to) to Brukhalian to what happens to Prince Jelarkan. yeah wow

finished book 1. wow. and fucking Kruppe is back which is so fun. it was awesome when he entered cause they didn’t say his name right away but it was like yeah there’s this big round bald man YUP i know kruppe when i see him lol

read the prologue and chapter 1 and i think this is gonna be my favorite malazan book yet, and potentially one of my favorite books…

very much enjoying this but it’s gonna take me fucking forever to finish it cause the chapters are all like 60+ pages long
