Debating whether or not to persist, currently feeling like a 3⭐

Reading a book that equates academia with hell is fitting at this point in my life! However, it's not exactly relaxing when a philosopher from my thesis pops up in my detox book!! Kuang is undeniably witty, so this one might be on me...

The plot is going downhill QUICKLY, and I’m mad about it.

Plowing through this as part of a readathon with philsoc! Comprehension at 0% - could not explain a single plotline lol

So many things about this are hilarious - introducing ONE (1) female storyline and then immediately abandoning it for 350 pages, STILL showing no sign of an antagonist/unifying threat/forward plotline, repeating scenes and dialogue to the extent that I can literally quote sentences AS THEY’RE BEING SPOKEN.

And yet, it’s Brandon Sanderson. Of course I’m still reading 😌😌

This is not grabbing me, which is alarming because I didn't realise how many pages I was committing to LOL

I've just finished Volume 1, and it's somewhat disappointing that I'm almost 400 pages into a murder mystery novel where THE MURDER HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED YET!!!

This whole book is depressing. Dostoevsky's theology is seriously twisted, and the characters suck. Why did I just read 100 pages of sermons from an imaginary monk???? They weren't even biblically faithful?????

I'm in too deep to DNF, so we shall press on.
