Gave up.

I watched the Apple series first and was spoiled with the rich, immersive world-building. None of that is from this book. And having an entire chapter of a official who drops all his Rs leading to ridiculosities such as "cuhtain" for "certain"... I seriously don't get why so many people are p!ssed the show is not enough like the book.

I never read books this fast. This is a testament to the sheer readability of LLB's latest novel.

Reading some of the reviews so far, I was fearful this collection would be a letdown. The 1st story, The Summer People, is a definite highlight. It has all the elements I love about Link in a new presentation. Great.

However, there's always one story in her otherwise brilliant collections that I can't even finish reading. The 2nd tale is already unreadable. But the 3rd, Secret Identity, is back on track.
