I have listened to "The King of Persia and the Princess of the Sea"

I have since realised that the audiobook is read by Microsoft voice. Nevertheless, the expression is fine, except for one or two sentences which seem to be missing a full stop.

I won't say I've finished this nor have I really properly read it, but just dipped my toes into the stories through the 1958 Riverside Wonderland Series children's retelling recording. The language is a bit outdated, and the stories are simplified for children, but I enjoyed Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's music. If you wish to listen to this recording as well, it is available on Internet Archive.

I will say that it is interesting to hear about the various views and political opinions in the UK during the war.

I began reading Mr Standfast because I think I saw it on some list of great books of history. John Buchan of course is a significant author because of The Pilgrim's Progress (which I have not read yet). I have only made a small dent into the book, but it starts off quite slow, and character-driven, but I sense a change. It has already had a few prejudice and discriminatory parts, which is always disappointing.

Why is it that the book spells the word “new” as “noo”?

One reviewer stated that there was smugness in the first few chapters, which is what I am slogging through now.
