Why am I doing this to myself

Holy crap, I'm only a few chapters in and I can already tell this is one of those books that takes a familiar setting and genre and is going to elevate it in an unforgettable way. Already impressed

omg, incredible contemporary fantasy so far. Super unique and well-done worldbuilding.

I'm always down for a Robin Hood retelling but why are they always so bad? "Will" Scarlet in this book is quickly catching up to Scarlet O'Hara in the Most Annoying Scarlets of Literature awards.

Immediately obsessed

Beautiful, ethereal. So far a combination of Daisy Jones & the Six and The Secret History in a creepy old house. Can't wait to see where it goes.

I'm honestly, genuinely giving this a good-faith effort because everyone says these are so amazing - but I'm just not feeling the magic!

So far another unforgettable, superbly written Emma Donoghue book about the pain, guilt, and love of being a mother in monstrous circumstances.

So...JSF watched Fiddler on the Roof and read half an Isaac Bashevis Singer short story and was like "what if I did that, but made everyone in the shtetl a weird pervert and also inserted myself as the most obnoxious American tourist ever? Also, did you know it's hilarious if someone who has lived his whole life in Ukraine and never been to America isn't very good at English? HILARIOUS, guys."

Getting through this one slowly because I keep stopping to go down rabbit trails on everything it talks about. How amazing would it be to have a deluxe edition with more photos, art, diagrams, etc.!
