I’ve cried, and I’ve grinned, and then I’ve cried harder

I had tears in my eyes by the end of the first page. When I think about what the characters have gone through, I get tears in my eyes again. This book is both heartbreak and hope, a revolution in how I understand my identity and the world around me as a lesbian in today’s society, and learning about the historical significance of the Butch/Femme system truly opened my eyes to a deeper meaning buried in its roots.

*does a double-take*

HOLY FORK.

I don’t think I’ve ever before read a coming of age where you can so clearly see the characters, well, coming of age. It’s a such a contemplative experience.

…You know, there’s something specific I’m looking for but it hasn’t happened yet…

19 hour audiobook, but I’m getting through it, and things are really starting to get good- I’m surprised, I quite like both Malini and Priya.

I’M IN LOVE.

I’m trying to soak up all of the resonance this book has with my soul. Why does this story have such a big impact on me? Why does it harmonize with the stories I wish to tell? What about the couple’s dynamic makes them so enthralling to read about for me?
I’ve got some ideas, but I feel like there’s more knowledge to be had, ideas to be explored…
Oh, how I love this book.
