An emotional roller coaster in just 10 pages. Hell of a chapter!

Reading at Rollins, on a clear-sky day, is like heaven.

I now understand the purpose of his forward: to illustrate how framing dominates our recanting of tales or history. It hit me the second referred to the pilgrims as Jamestown settlers; it's no different from saying "Indians" when they're of multiple tribes and cultures, "slave" instead of Ashanti or Songhai...
When I put my future kids in private school, I want this framing to be a part of the lessons.

Man, what a phenomenal opening chapter! I can easily see how this got greenlit.

Aristotle admits that for one to be happy they require the "instruments for happiness." He says this is why we attribute a person with fortune or virtue as being happy.

He talks on the idea that all works; whether honor, skills, etc, are done for the good of perceived happiness but happiness is desired for itself. He then dives to explore if man has a work, just as a role give man a work. If we do have a work, happiness can be found there.

Smith saw capitalism as key to peace, using self-interest for the common good. Yet, he urged aid for the poor, moral restraint through the "impartial spectator," and warned against repetitive work’s dehumanizing effects. Ignoring these ideas twists his philosophy to excuse neglect of the less fortunate. As Smith said, "The difference between a philosopher and a street porter...arises from habit, custom, & education.
