I liked the fact there were no draconian stories. I've read all the sci-fi ones, and enjoyed myself. My favourite one was Elephants of Poznan. I don't mind the odd doomsday story, maybe I like it because you get some peace and quiet when the world has nearly ended, and this one's mechanism was mass, well OK, no spoilers. I hope I've encouraged your interest in this book. I'm looking forward to the Hat-trick shorties.

I've just read 'The N Word', going back to 2008. It's about a genetically recreated Neanderthal, one of a few, who through their mental and physical superiority (don't ask me, it's just in the story), dominate the existing humans. America doesn't want Neanderthal as competition, and so they use apartheid and discriminate. The hero dies, himself a Neanderthal, but his son, beautiful and bright lives on.
