This is so interesting. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before. There’s so much going on to the point where I feel like I’m getting lost. But I feel like that’s part of the charm, it’s intended to get the reader to be just as intoxicated and sickly obsessed with this story as all the women in this? I’m equal parts mesmerized/ intrigued and horrified as to what the wax child truly is. So excited

I’m so conflicted with this. He’s a good writer and he knows it, but his writing feels so shapeless? There’s not one consistent way of writing and I don’t like the stream of consciousness thing he does. And also please stop talking about fucking and having your boyfriend ram into you when your grandma is actively dying. Time and place please.

This is absolutely too much. Because why am I expecting a heartfelt emotional coming of age story and Ocean is writing about fucking, but not really, but fucking some guy and his cockslit. LIKE STOP PLEASE. it just gets to a point. I feel like there are too many loose ends and he spends 30 pages writing about “fake” fucking his not so boyfriend IN A LETTER TO HIS DECEASED MOM.

Honestly I don’t know what to think of this. You can really tell Ocean Voung is a poet through and through. But holy shit I feel like I’m not grasping everything he’s putting down and I feel stupid. Because I want to understand but I just can’t?Already having a hard time adapting and I feel like my brain is fried. Maybe I just like his poems more?

I just really want this to be over already. I’m reading and reading and I’m getting nowhere. This fuck ass small font and pages filled with a million words and things I don’t really care about. I’ve come so far this is really testing my patience.

I‘m fighting to get through this. It has become a real brick and I’m brut forcing my way through it. Started really interesting and now I’m just hoping for a new interesting chapter after every first sentence of a chapter.

Okay lots of things are happening. I have a lot of thoughts and opinions, but this is great. The intrigue the suspense the beautiful writing. Really just so good. Chef’s kiss. I’m excited to see where this is going in the last 60 pages of this. But this reminds me so much of the yellow wallpaper and I LOVED that one so much. Female rage and corruption at its finest.

She is spiraling. Everyone is spiraling. Shit is going down and I’m so into it.

Interesting writing style. Really have to force myself to actually pay attention and gather everything that’s being said. Honestly feels like a fever dream up until now. Love it but at the same time I feel unsure of it.

Wow. I think sylvia plath is an outstanding poet. She’s so incredible at describing what it’s like to feel. Sometimes poets can feel disconnected from me, but she gets it. And she gets it every damn time. I just wish the bell jar was this easy and nice to read.
