I enjoyed this story. The author again uses WWII as a back-drop, yet still manages to find unique issue to base her story on. This focused on how society viewed women, when single, widowed or married and their role. Women weren't allowed to work under certain circumstances & how that affected their lives and choices. Like her previous novel, the characters are endearing & I loved the authors note at the end.

I realized after purchasing this book that it was for kids, but I felt it was worth a read anyway. I enjoyed it and thought highly of the story that I even sent it to my great niece to read (8 yrs old) as one of her chapter books for school. I think she will enjoy it also. Just a little bit of a mystery mixed with a little bit of magic and a fun discovery and story.
