It's very modern. Could be written in current times and you'd barely need to change a thing to make it fit. I can't say if it's poorly researched but it feels far from authentic.

I think there may be a record for the number of times jasmine is mentioned, along with bull skulls. I'm really just hate reading this now.

Not a single kind hearted or human bloke in the entire 252 pages thus far. Is this another case of all men are assholes or is there one tucked away in the remaining 200 pages that has a shred of humanity?

This book would be half the length if it didn't keep repeating the same ideas and passages. Lots of repetition that isn't adding anything other than more pages.

It's one of those styles(?) that isn't overly creative. It's quite basic. The characters move like scripted puppets rather than living, breathing people. It's flat.

Needless to say I am not enjoying this much at all but determined to finish it.

Not overly enthralled yet. Has great reviews but missing the mark for me. Writing is average - very mechanical. Hope it improves

So far so good. I think this is the kind of interesting writing I've been looking for.

Just under halfway. Definitely not as good as Philippa Gregory, but not bad.
