Would have been a 3 but the last minute closure(?) about her dad's side brought it up to a 3.5, now I don't mind the open-endedness (what happened to all them -- prob dead, if she stays w Mel (who is a sorcerer?) or leans into Con).. def reminded me of the Silver Kiss in that they defeat the evil vampire, but at least here the vamp doesn't die. Con was such an interesting dude but it was all surface level here

Another one.. vampire stories, that is. Retried the audiobook and stuck w it. The writing has lots of interesting similes & metaphors. The plot was neat -- didn't realize that this was a post-apocalyptic setting but apparently the new world still needs bakers. And her literal sunshine powers were so cool. And Con? Take ME w you!! A sequel would be lovely but there prob isn't one...

Knew about the 'twist' at the end, so was on board w it.. this is the kind of story you want to read about bc despite Eva's entire family being killed, it's not traumatic for the reader (looking @ you, BH!) and there is a happy ending. 4 stars? A solid story.

Started and then dropped this one for a few days, then came back to it.. not a huge fan of WW2 bc the Nazis truly were evil incarnate. But apparently I'm drawn to the time period, having read the Bronze Horseman and now this. And in comparison, this is probably the better book. The prose wasn't flowery like BH for one, and the characters were morally squeaky clean.. so why did I like the grittiness of BH more?

Almost thought that I was reading the wrong book bc of the major time skip from the last book.. but I guess this was still alright? Arthur def cheated though, and Roe is oblivious to that it seems. 3 stars.

Had maybe another 2 hours left to finish until my audible subscription ran out.. so didn't get to a part where he found out her true identity.. guess I'll never know? But really liked the writing style so will def consider reading another of this author's works. The narration was excellent too.

Finished this a few days ago so really taking advantage of lasting impressions for my reviews lol.. this was great, totally expecting YA but it's def new adult / mature. Far spicier than I was expecting. Has many elements that I love -- secret identities, mortal peril, and forbidden romance. Cat was an interesting MC to piggyback.. and I'm surprised that Griffin didn't figure her shit out!! On to the next ofc, 4 *s

The narrator reminds me of Beth from TWD. It is post-apocalyptic / dystopian to boot.. but it wasn't really anything special. Def a bit of handmaids tale influence. Didn't realize that this is a SIX book series, so likely not finishing / continuing it. But it wasn't hard to listen to.. maybe 2.5 stars? Can't really think of anything I liked / found interesting a little over a day later.

Oof I finished this a while ago now but never updated Goodreads. This was an interesting listen, loved the slice of life aspect and the plot was entertaining -- am definitely looking forward to reading more SEP. But Eric's baby mama annoyed the SHIT outta me.. this is why all adults should go to therapy before having kids... for that alone, 3 stars

Anyway... this was a solid 2.5 / 3 stars, and might read the next one sometime. I'm on season 4B so Gov is dead (it's what he deserves) but it's kinda cool how they allude to the dual identities in the show too.

Was watching S3 of the show so wanted to know how Penny died and how the Governor had control over Woodbury.. but this is based on the comics. It's fine, same gist. Some of the gory details could've been spared and kinda finished it bc I started. But I totally robbed myself of the twist/reveal at the end bc of reading the wiki, OMG.. so I'd def be interested in how BRIAN is actually the man that does all this shit..

..Gabriel kinda creeped me out at first but when it became more platonic, I was sold (age gap aside). I too was scared for her bc AKC does existentialism so well. Especially that suicide attempt (holy shit!) And romance too, though this was def better than Silver Kiss.

Wow.. this is a solid 5 stars for me, the later half of the book was gripping and not only made me think but was also just plain fun. Kinda sad this is all there is of Vivian's character bc her story was so masterfully written / realized. My palms were def sweaty during the O.. (forget what it's called) but I saw it coming and it was still cool to listen to. Also love the development of her character throughout..

In a bit of a reading slump atm but this was excellent, would rate 4.5 stars (the American Civil War isn't my fave thing to read about tbh) but Elle as a complex main character (Malcolm too) and their relationship was great. Definitely spicy too, but THIS is how you write historical smut!! (Looking @ you Calia Read..) this seems to be part of a series but wont read the next immediately.

Finished this yesterday, it felt longer than I expected it to be but I didn't really mind. The relationship didn't feel forced in the beginning and I def clocked who El Scorpion was, so yay? The epilogue was very nice too, they're really living the dream. Would read this author again.

Skimmed a little bit towards the end bc MAN is this chick stupid... and the flowery revelations about love? Give me a fucking break lol.. bffr. 2 stars and I'm kinda leaning towards that being generous.. don't really care to continue w this series bc it wasn't what I wanted it to be (a dash more of realism would have gone so far!)

Sticking this one out bc nothing else grabbing my attention. Nothing amazing about it, requires quite a bit of suspending belief that he would even believe her instead of calling the insane asylum, or the fact that the awful sex scenes are contextually sound. And her fiancé who threw the picture in the fire? Nope. It's best not to think about any of it lol.

Can't believe this was written in 1990, but it explains why the library is so popular. Also kinda guessed the murderer, so yay.. lots of similarities there w True Blood too, and Roe & Sookie are pretty similar (but not the same). She gonna pick the ugly redhead guy, I know it lol. 3.5 stars

The main takeaways from this series is a LT to rival Wayhaven's weird ass angst, an antagonist / villain that frustratingly gets away w shit (his death wasn't super gratifying bc there was no follow up w the council, or even any payoff for the potential defections of Blackwell or Davidson), and worldbuilding that settles into a routine pattern of telling instead of showing.. 3.5 bc it didn't quite land but okay.

Just finished this.. the ending felt premature but I guess Faith's situation wouldn't be nicely wrapped up anyway... would have loved a drawn out ending / epilogue. Her dad's death got me too.. could tell it was coming but man does that suck. And she finally accepted Marc's proposal (really she proposed to HIM lol).. oh and not to mention Parker's death, bc someone had to die apparently..?

The horniness is inescapable even when they're all feeling like whales? Okay wtf lol... I'm skimming over a lot of that anyway. Glad it worked out for Claire, her & E are a cute couple and I liked the less sex-crazed romance (until the end).. eh wth 3 stars, these are easy reads apparently.

The beginning thread was in the last book, so the kidnapping added a little variety. Could tell right away that he was the lost brother but appreciated the new ocean setting, even the time skip. Pretty cool that H got a new lease on life.. would I be cured of T1D if I had one? Maybe it'll come up w Tiff. Also liked that he was a blank slate but slowly morphed into another sex crazed blue alien man... 3.5 again.

Finished this yesterday in only a few hours. The best one by far bc it had less sex, more plot, and I'm not embarrassed to say that I'm locked in, lol... but wtf is up w all these girls being experienced at 22, RELAX but maybe that further proves the point that these alien men rock their world one blue penis at a time...? Okay 3.5 stars but to differentiate from the pack, I'll round to 4.

Started the first for shits & giggles. Get invested in the plot bc the writing/prose wasn't as cringe as I thought it'd be. But there is WAY too much graphic sex going on, I don't need to know about the fluids lmao... so I skip a lot of that. Also no self respecting woman refers to her parts using the p-word!! And both G & L use it. Hoping for some variety in protagonists in the next books. 2.5 stars

And OMG the situation w Jace & Marc?!? Looking forward to how Faith sorts that out bc how does one choose. Kinda sad that there's only one book left, presumably to tie up loose ends. This was a solid 4 again w a tighter feeling plot.

Definitely 4 stars minimum... not a 5, maybe a 4.5? But can't exactly pinpoint what's holding it back. Prob my inability to read without retreading lines / jumping ahead. I miss the audiobook version but it was nice to see the actual words.. especially the spelling of names. I would also haunt anyone who came up w a lame ass death cover story like they gave E. lmao

Oops I finished this days ago but forgot to collect my thoughts.. definitely the best book in the series (so far). And having just finished book 5, I really appreciated the set up this one provided. Knew about E beforehand (& his constantly mentioned importance really drove home that something bad was gonna happen to him).. but was NOT expecting Dan's fate. WOW. Also wtf is going on w Ryan lol... okay?

OOOOOH. Just have to say, was NOT expecting that at all. The death, yes (made me tear up gd). But not the aftermath w Jace. Marc is gonna kill him!! And like not even done the book and so much has happened. Also hope it all works out okay for Dan.

This one was just okay -- it's clear she's gonna be with Marc the whole series lol. Do love the added future angst though, which is why I'll continue w book 4. Malone was a frustrating to read about; def sets up more conflict for the next books. And the twist w Kaci was rough!! Still 3.5 stars, but will round down... still love Rachel Vincent's writing / plot lines!!
