What’s neat about this book is how dragons are portrayed. They are not mere creatures of a scale (hehe) larger than a regular animal; they are creatures who surpass understanding, behaving like weapons and forces of nature. The stories of the bravery of the knights also function as a retelling of the mysteries that permeate the existence of a dragon. Scary found-footage horror.

The third act breakup inherent in any romance novel is the bane of my existence. They don’t even have to breakup; a miscommunication easily resolvable through a sit-down conversation would do. I don’t understand why people would make the worst assumption of another and then justify the resulting actions as those fueled by emotion.

Uhhh if you light up the inside of a tent, wouldn’t you also be visible from the outside?? If they’re inside a camping tent, at night, without any other discernible light sources to overshadow the light coming from within, wouldn’t their shadows and movements be easily identifiable?

But that’s just my two cents

Can’t quite tell if I dislike the book because it’s taking me ages to get through each page or if the writing just doesn’t inspire urgency, despite the multiple character POVs.

Trying to figure out why people love this book so much

Under the section, “we irrationally value our efforts” - it helped me better understand why people take offense when you challenge their idea. People attach themselves to their ideas and in challenging the idea’s merit, it challenges them as an individual.

Although the book doesn’t say that explicitly, I understand the strength of an idea once it is owned by someone.

Preliminary thoughts:
- workplace harassment core
- the male love interest seems like the modern day Barney Stinson
- supposedly the MMC is a lawyer; how the fuck is he juggling three women across a city?
- what about his clients? What about his work hours??
- I could never understand how people can spend so much time dating. Seems exhausting but could be a skill issue (for me). What do I know

All I do is read books and cry

I’m sorry to have ever doubted all that came before me - it is in my nature to doubt and question things unless they are irrefutably confirmed and evaluated. I did the same for this book and I’ve never been happier to have been proven wrong

The second half of this book? Fed me. It fed me and I no longer need physical nourishment. I’m sorry Maslow, your hierarchy of needs? Gone.

Nothing like having a book shine a light into things that you’re thinking about but never really found the right dots to connect them by.

It’s a good skill to continue to see the unintentional habits (routines) vs the supposed keystone habit in wherever environment you find yourself in. I’ve found that the unspoken routines are the hardest to identify and master; they’re more variable in nature.

“When you die, the first thing you lose is your life. The next thing you lose is your illusions.”

6th Discworld book and reading in chronological order - I’m starting to see bits and pieces of what makes Pratchett’s life’s work so beloved but this book isn’t giving atm. I think the satire that so thoroughly coats his books flies over my head; maybe because I’m not British or have the needed dry humor?

Haven’t visited the gym recently due to multiple life updates but thanks to this book, I’m going to renew my membership lmao

It more or less goes over the same things as Atomic Habits but is still a good read if you’ve forgotten (like I did) the importance of the good ol’ cue - routine - reward.

I’m so thankful my parents are people who give a shit about their children and tried to provide a good life. Also that any generational trauma they have didn’t involve me almost dying to a fire or falling out of a moving vehicle or not having a single home throughout my childhood. Unlike Jeanette Wells.

My current guess is that her parents either have aggressive ADHD or untreated BPD. Or both why not bc wtf

Reading a Sanderson book never disappoints. I’ve grown to love these characters over our journey spanning 3000+ pages (so far) but I’m still learning so much.

Oathbringer is supposedly the weakest among the four books that are currently out but it tackles such great topics:
What it means to accept different aspects of yourself. Finding a different passion from when you started out. Morality in war and peace.

Not liking the lil quote before each chapter but I can feel the book setting up a lot of the story. I understand why people don’t really love this as much as the previous two books because this one delves more into the mystery and politics within the new location.

Kaladin also gets less chapters so far and we spend more time in Urithiru.

Interesting that Ed Catmull decided to include a segment about Steve Jobs towards the end, as a sort of homage to his legacy.

I wonder what made Ed decide to do this specifically. Did this book come up just when there was negative publicity on Steve Jobs? Did people assassinate his character on like? Was this just a longer acknowledgements page?

It’s 241 AM and the pouring rain outside has drowned out the sound of me getting emotional over Notes Day.

I’m just a girl, vicariously feeling the creative energy that can take place when human beings are empowered and encouraged to flourish. Karl Marx whomstve?? The worker can get value from his work under a capitalistic regime, if they work at Pixar apparently.

I was supposed to sleep an hour ago but the book picked up in the middle to last half (I’m at the part with the merger between Disney & Pixar!!) and I guess I’ll just be sleep deprived tomorrow.

Prjmary thought: man, I’d like to work at Pixar.
Secondary thought: I wonder if this is the same culture at Canva because rarely do I see them hire for roles or positions.

What’s 4 + 4?

This book because it ATE!!

The writing style and the narrative voice was interesting despite it being a bit too slow but if you are patience, the stories and the learnings are worth waiting for. I’m learning a lot and it’s helping me reflect on my own confused direction in life and what I am passionate about to the point of argument for the sake of it.

Something tragic and quite graphic occurs here but I can’t find myself terrified by it because it’s quantifiable and understandable.

It’s funny because my mind knows bits and pieces of anatomy and medicinal knowledge; not enough to qualify for med school but more than the standard amount known by regular people. I just end up diagnosing and hypothesizing on gruesome injuries and cases in fiction lmao

As a person who was born and raised in the city, my interaction with the woods are quite limited. I have not experienced the same life as the narrator which made this story a little more palatable to me.

Even if this isn’t a real story, I know there are instances where reality could mirror fiction in all of its peculiar form. I’m quite thankful that my parents raised me well and were careful with my well-being

Woke up at, started reading this and got creeped out.

Have relocated to an open fast food joint for the sun to deflect the fear. Sometimes I don’t why I do this to myself but I think it’s the urge to ✨ feel something✨ I’m pairing it with a middle grade book + a business book to return my mindset to reality haha

I’m keeping this as a book to read only when I’m with other people because the tension so far is well-sustained and I’m actually getting freaked out; point for the book, point against for me and my well-being.

Although I’m not in sales, I do resonate with the profiles that were set here but not the full definition.

For fun, I asked Gella to put herself into two categories that she resonates with the most and also her guess on my categories. And then we’ll see if we have the same guesses.

She’s the relationship builder + the hardworker
I’m the challenger + the lone wolf
