curious - if subjectivity is a fair truth, who defines values & how do we build strength against propaganda. idt this is only core to existentialism but any ideology that is ok with subjectivity.

lowkey such a quick read - it's so beautifully written that the words flow so naturally
conceptually cool how it connects Hamilton's childhood with his political fervor and interests

i’ve noticed i really like books about childhood and motherhood
like a coming of age tale

i read the chapter on healthcare. incredibly underwhelming. it was an essay of like three pages and the only thing i really took away from it was that white people thought that black ppl getting sick during reconstruction was fault of them not being used to “freedom” when really it was just the ill sanitation provided by the friedman’s bureau

goldberg is an amazing writer and captures the mood so well. it’s actually insane i wish i could write as good as her one day. word choice and images are spot on.

one part of me is like wow the craft is so insane. but the other part of me is like wow how does she remember all of the emotions of being an an elementary school environment. haves v have nots

this kind of reminds me of harry potter. (a kid is born into a familial situation they can’t help. they’re bullied for it. while others envy their position. they ought to make the best of it for their well-being and for the families legacy. although, the family has nothing but love for the child. and wishes for th child to lead a regular life. too bad their circumstances call for otherwise. trope)

god damn i love this book. explores so many important topics going from motherhood to race relations to abortion to friend relations - like so many different dynamics all purposefully crafted to represent each dynamic. the writing is so beautiful - accessible but done so well. i loveee this book, idk why i’m not reading it faster

when j picked it up i literally thought it was a recent release but the copyright says 2019

only on page 25, picked it up yesterday but i really enjoy it. the writing style is what sally rooney wishes she was. the plot is memoir-like but rather than the character reflecting upon herself - it’s a collection of her old letters and recollections from others. a page turner and the book i’ve been yearning for. so far, thematically it explores mother daughter relationships nd city v new resident conflict

Starting ab ten pages ago it started getting confusing again, like the beginning, and instead of being intrigued I’m yawning. Seriously. I read this to fall asleep. Although I will finish it soon.

I hate this book it’s so dull
