As I move further along, I keep wishing for a prologue with Gideon and Harrow as kids. Just to establish why they hate each other.

Ok, giving it another chance. It’s perfect when I can’t sleep. I don’t feel emotionally invested.

Yeah, I paused a good romantasy book to start this… it’s light hearted and pretty fast paced. The first scene definitely could have been more… descriptive.

The kids are so cute. Enjoying Linus’s growth. Idk this will probably be a 4 star read for me.

Finally getting to the yearning, it can never last, miscommunication.

Ok, round two with audio this time. It’s decent. Narrator has weird pronunciations sometimes but not cringe.

Why is this book doing it for me so far…? I love these MC’s and their mutual adoration and skepticism.

I mean… he could just stop the game and have police secretly raid… idk, or he could just throw a game…

Going to have to relisten someday to catch the info dumping I spaced out for, but my god KJ Charles has a healthy way of communication between MCs that’s just so simple a rational, real person wouldn’t think of it. It’s like an instruction manual for interacting with your lover. Expressing discomfort, affection, uncertainty, and how it’s not the end of the world when one MC isn’t sure.

This started SO STRONG. Laugh out loud funny moments, but has since slowed way down. And the little blurbs about how in love she is with her bestie, interrupting scenes that are unrelated… fuck. Irritating. Easily skimmable.

Oh god the betrayal, the hurt. Well done.

Another scene in which Curran refuses to leave Kate alone with Hugh…. The hunt scene better be explained or I’m going to explode.

Also, why with the big speech about no one going anywhere alone? And then he fucking leaves here there with Hugh? Ummm yeah. I guess I hope there’s an explanation later?

Still a great read but I’m fucking sorry, Lion Daddy offers to kill Hugh cos he’s soooo dangerous, and then leaves Kate alone with him to protect the pregnant girl during the hunt?? The fuck? Can’t all the other shapers do it? Seems like a plot hole and a stupid excuse to get Kate and Hugh alone. It just seems like a major weak point in the story. Curran’s so protective why leave her alone with Hugh?

So, I’m pretty sure I’ve read a good chunk of this before… maybe borrowed it on Libby… the beginning is familiar. But it was returned before I finished it. So, cool. I bought this book that is everywhere, and I had already read like half of it.

Mehhhh this Edward guy sucks as a love interest. So bored by this book it couldn’t even put me to sleep

Still thrown that this is a college hockey romance. It’s giving Mafia.

The fact that she used the word “woolgathering” is astounding to me. I like it. What sort of high schooler would use that word? No wonder I didn’t enjoy the one movie I saw. There’s so much more going on in the book.

Easily one of my favorites so far.
