oh this is gonna hurt me isnt it. DIALOGUE‼️‼️ WHY IS THE DIALOGUE WITH HER DIFFERENT I LOVE IT‼️‼️ i also love jack now, forget my earlier feelings. they both feel like trees of the narrative; bending with the story and changing with its seasons but still planted in the earth. god i could cry already. my only gripe is that the river scene feels a little strong for how subtle this book is. loving it.

the relationship between them is written so well. this all truly reminds me of the writing advice of “write what you wish you didnt know.” the isolation of the frontier, the grief of a parent, or not even one. depression, distance, and the inkling of hope. gosh how much i love the snowball fight scene.
