Been reading this without updating. This book is amazing. Sometimes I sit and think about what Hartman was possibly thinking to write such a masterpiece. To think about the possibility that lied within the impossible and the discontinuity of Black life. I’ve reached book three now. I can’t wait to read the rest!

on chapter 2: justice: childhood love lessons

• child abuse cannot be seen as love
• we all need a better understanding on love and the proponents of love.

april 24, 2023: picked it up today and read the preface + intro and what will be called page three: in love with it ( no pun intended ) the introduction is an intro to hooks’ history with love and how her academic engagement lead her to her theories and revelations about love. 10/10.
