Reading and knitting at work like it's 2012. Also, FUCK YOU, JOE HILL WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO ME.

This is due back to the library yesterday and IT'S GOTTEN TO A REALLY GOOD PART and I have *never* thought audiobooks were less than physical but switching to an audiobook now feels like failure.

I used to be able to burn through books like this in a couple of weeks, tops. I am so sad.

This is due to go back tomorrow. Over 400 pages left. I am noooooot making it.

I'm hyper aware of how little time I have before this has to be back to the library. Joe Hill writes so well, reading his books is like drinking an ice cold coke. Satisfying and so easy.

But also, like, the coke has chunks of LSD in it and every now and then a dragon eats someone.

I made Jeremiah do math to figure out how much more of the book we have left, and we discovered we have two more days (2 chapters each) before we're done. We're super excited to see how this ends.

I NEED PEOPLE TO START DYING SOON OMG I HATE THESE PEOPLE.

Jeremiah is not pleased that every time we hit an especially juicy chapter ending, I stop the book for the night. I can't help it.

I think this belongs on a bookshelf I didn't think I needed to make, "The movie was better". Only the second one I've ever had that needed that shelf.

It's not surprising that Cher's life story would be a dense read, but jesus, this woman did a lot before she ever turned 14. It's a good read so far, but it feels like I've been reading it for months. No wonder she broke it into two parts.

I love June's competence, but the beginning of this is draaaaaaaggging.

I was actively about to finally restart Dream Thieves when the hold for this came up. Stiefception, I guess.

I have no fucking idea what's happening here and I'm living for it.

I am....strongly considering DNF'ing. Maybe I could just....skip to the end. I'm really not happy about not wanting to finish this.

I had not considered that, when selecting a book for Jeremiah and I to both read for the first time together, I wouldn't be able to DNF it when it turned out to be duller than a Play-doh™ knife.

Jeremiah got this from school, and since he's really enjoying doing chapter books together, I decided to pick one I haven't read before. So far, it's like sitting with my feet in lukewarm water. Pleasant enough, but I wouldn't be sad to walk away and leave it behind. Hoping it continues to warm up.

Jeremiah: "If I'm really good tomorrow, could we read three chapters instead of two?"

I'm going to miss this when he's too cool to read with me at night.

Reading this to a kid who's never read it before, I feel the suspense of the chapter ends like I don't think I even did as a kid. Much cliffhanger, much enjoyment.

Oooh. A chapter at Angola. (Louisiana State Penitentiary) That's fun.

I caught up on some Netgalley reading while my plane was circling Orlando for FORTY MINUTES last night. Gotta love work conferences. Reviews ahoy.

I just buckawked aloud laughing, and proceeded to give my coworker a fast plot run down before explaining a scene involving a dog, a piece of cheese, and a dog's proclivity to roll around in messes.

I am going to assume this is supposed to have a bit of dark humor to it.

My reading has been so spiky. I am strongly considering trying a beloved book re-read. I've got a few bouncing around inside my brain like the old windows screensaver. Hunger Games, so I can get to the two prequels? Nevernight because murder is always fun? Strange the Dreamer because I've been away so long I've forgotten the beauty? Decisions, decisions.

Our serial killer went from icy to fluttery eyed interest in 5 milliseconds and the cop's buying it....because she's hot? Really? Am I dealing with a dumb cop and dumb killer book? Because that's a terrible combination.

Am I losing my taste for horror and thrillers, or ARE THEY ALL GETTING WORSE? It's hard to tell.

Oh, this is going to make me sad, isn't it.

I'm going to need to read something SUPER BORING when I am done with this. Like...nonfiction or something.

If all goes well, I will be meeting Joe Hill on Thursday. Happyhappyhappy.
