The dad saying “neither of us signed up to be parents to special needs” is absolutely ridiculous when the mom has brittle bone disease and the dad is adhd at a minimum…

If I had a brittle bone disease there is no way I’d have a child.. the traumatizing life of this child is so hard to read 😭

Disappointed in this book. Using dated terms like high functioning and low functioning and levels when in the dms 5-tr which was updated in 2022 those terms were removed. Levels are ridiculous. Autism is autism. I also don’t believe there is profound autism. It’s autism with idd, with speech disorders etc. the autism isn’t harder it’s the comorbidities. It was just a very negative mindset. Disheartening

PTSD is not signaled by a constellation of new symptoms that develop long after a stressful event but it is in many regards the maladaptive persistence of the once adaptive responses that began as coping mechanisms in response to the event itself.

Recovery from trauma requires the victim to return to a situation which is predictable and safe. Our brains are naturally pulled to make sense of trauma in a way that allows us to become tolerant to it. To mentally shift the traumatic experience to one in which we are completely helpless to which we have some mastery.

I’d 100% live in this house if I didn’t have to clean it lol
